Literacy Review Day II
This Monday, November 25th, I went to the Kiddie Academy in Lewisville, Texas and reviewed basic financial literacy with 2 classes of 20 students. At the end of last class, I handed each student a $10 bill of fake money and asked them to keep it safe until the next Monday I would arrive. About 27(67%) held onto the paper bill that I gave them and, in reward, I handed those children a sticker as well as a small candy. Afterward, I revised the importance of saving money and how beneficial it is for them to hold onto the money they receive from their chores, allowance, etc. Additionally, we brainstormed some fun things that we can save our money to buy such as toys, games, or even candy. At the very end of class, I handed back the $10 to each of the children to see if they would be able to keep it until next class. All in all, it was a very fun experience!
