Quick Counting I

This Monday, October 14th, I went to the Kiddie Academy in Lewisville, Texas and reviewed basic financial literacy with 2 classes of 25 students. Firstly, I introduced the main values of each paper bill and each coin with some new prop money. Then, we practiced adding up the cash and coins by themselves in order to familiarize the students with basic addition and currency recognition. Afterward, we played a fun matching game where they paired items with their approximate costs, reinforcing the concept of value. Finally, I ended up the session with an engaging Q&A where the students asked some great questions about recognizing/adding coins and cash. To encourage participation and enthusiasm, I handed out colorful stickers as rewards for their thoughtful contributions.
