Literacy Review Day

This Monday, August 12th, I went to the Kiddie Academy in Lewisville, Texas and reviewed basic financial literacy with 2 classes of 25 students. We mainly reviewed the 3 main concepts taught over our last couple of weeks: Saving and Spending, Smart Spending, and Banking and Interest. Firstly, we went over the definitions of saving and spending, and we reviewed the importance of saving as much money as possible. Next, we recapped why it it important for children to save money over spending, the definitions of needs and wants, and we went over the 50-30-20 rules for saving. Secondly, we talked about why it is so helpful and secure to save money in banks due to interest. Lastly, I put the children into groups of 4-5 and quizzed them on everything taught so far. It was extremely crucial to keep these basic financial literacy concepts fresh in their mind.
